Ivona Kaz-Jepsen was a world renowned artist, who retired to Columbia, Virginia near Charlottesville. Her estate, consisting of her fabulous works of art and antiques, will be offered for sale on November 12 & 13, 9:00 to 5:00 each day, at her home in Columbia.

Local Artist’s Estate To Be Sold
Louise Jesse, of the firm Epping Forest Antiques, will conduct the two day estate tag sale.

Said Jesse, “We are privileged to be conducting the sale of such a prominent and fascinating artist.  Her works encompass many mediums all of which will be represented at the sale.

Ms. Kaz-Jepsen artist statement says it all.  ”My work has always been associated with inner feelings and with the emotional content of my life experiences.  To express these feelings, I make use of different materials, textures and abstractions”.Her experiences were indeed varied.  A native of Lithuania, Ms. Kaz-Jepsen escaped the Communist occupation of Lithuania during World War II.  She studied art and photography at Tufts University where she got her master’s degree in teaching.  Her teaching career brought her to such far away places such as Tehran American School in Iran, and, to where she finished teaching, St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Bethesda, Maryland.

She received her BFA from Tufts  University, a MFA from the University of North Carolina and a Diploma from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School.

Her art has been exhibited in the United States, Iran and Lithuania, and in juried/invitational exhibits in Japan, Iran, China, Lithuania, Russia and Italy.  Her work has also appeared in a book featuring Lithuanian artists in North America, Lithuania, the Nation that Would Be Free.

In the United States her work was at the Museum of Art in Brockton, Massachusetts, the Mayer’s Building in Washington, D.C., the Hera Gallery in Rhode Island, the Danville (VA) Museum, at East Carolina University in Durham, The Horace Williams House in Chapel Hill and Chapel Hill’s Center/Gallery.

Mrs. Kaz-Jepsen taught photography, painting, sculpture and design graphics at St. Andrew’s Episcopal High School in Potomac, Maryland.  She taught art classes at the Boston Trade High School and at numerous institutions in North Carolina, i.e.: Durham Arts Council, Carrboro Art School, Elon College, University of North Carolina, and Carteret Community College.  She was also assistant professor of art at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn., faculty member at Pyramid Atlantic in Washington, D.C., adjunct professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., and artist/teacher at Norwich University in Montpelier, Vt.
